The National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL) programme is for those who are, or aspiring to become, senior leaders with cross-school responsibilities eg an experienced middle leader, assistant/deputy headteacher, Director of a Teaching School Alliance (TSA), or other senior staff.

The qualification includes a flexible combination of blended learning and support opportunities: face-to-face sessions, online learning, self-study, personal reading, coaching, with a focus on development of skills and understanding alongside leadership behaviours.

Participants are required to complete an assessment task:

Lead an improvement project across their school, lasting at least 2 terms, to reduce variation in pupil progress and attainment (part A) and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of teaching (part B). (If you are unable to identify one project that meets the needs of both part A and B, you may complete 2 separate projects.)
