This programme is for middle leaders, or those aspiring to become a middle leader, with responsibility for leading a team eg key stage/curriculum/ subject/ pastoral leaders, heads of department, specialist leaders of education (SLEs), SENCO (special educational needs coordinators).
The qualification includes a flexible combination of blended learning and support opportunities: face-to-face sessions, online learning, self-study, personal reading, coaching, with a focus on development of skills and understanding alongside leadership behaviours.
Participants are required to complete an assessment task – to lead an improvement project in their school lasting at least 2 terms aimed at improving pupil progress and attainment and the capability of their team.
Course duration is 12 months, with the final assessment being completed within 15 months from the start date of the programme.
