Future Catholic Leaders

As Bishop Challoner Training School SCITT, we work with many different types of schools across the West Midlands.

Through Bishop Challoner Catholic College, the founding school of our SCITT, we are proud of our close relationship with Catholic schools across the archdiocese of Birmingham.

Catholic schools are welcoming to teachers and leaders of all faiths, and none, and as part of our role as a SCITT, we hope to share with all our trainees the benefits we see to working in Catholic schools.

As a trainee with BCTSA, you may be placed in a Catholic school, or you may not: we have trainees of all faiths and none, and we work with every type of school across the West Midlands, including faith and non-faith schools.

All of our trainees will get the opportunity to learn about what it means to work in Catholic schools, and what opportunities might be available for career development in the diocese, through the opportunities we offer through our SCITT programme.

If you are a practicing Catholic, you will also have access to our Future Catholic Leaders programme, which is a 10 year (and beyond!) coaching pathway from teacher training to headship. This is a programme which supports practicing Catholics to develop their leadership into what are called 'protected roles': headteacher, and head of Catholic life in a Catholic school.
