Train to Teach students with SEND

Are you passionate about teaching students with SEND? Are you inspired by the difference you can make as an expert teacher of students with SEND? Are you motivated by the goal of helping students with SEND excel?

Then one of our QTS/PGCE SEND specialist courses may be for you!

At Bishop Challoner Training School SCITT we are passionate about training teachers who excel in teaching students with SEND. We work closely with teachers and local schools to ensure we are providing this specialist training, because we know that students with SEND need the best teachers, who are committed to their long term success in life.

You can train to teach with a specialism in SEND in Primary or Secondary settings.

In Primary, choose our Primary 5-11 (SEND specialism) course.

In Secondary, you will train in a specialist subject, with an additional specialism in supporting students with SEND.

How will the specialist SEND element of your course be delivered?

A highlight of the course will be the opportunity to spend your contrasting / second placement in a Specialist school for students with SEND. You will be mentored and work with teachers and Teaching Assistants who are expert in their field.

You will also have additional specialist training on our training days, in which you will work with expert practitioners from schools to develop a closer understanding of strategies to support your students.

Whether you choose to work in Specialist or Mainstream settings after qualifying, this rich experience will equip you with a wide range of strategies to support your future learners.
