Outstanding recruitment, and time to meet our new cohort of trainees

This week, we welcome our cohort of trainees for 2023-24. As Lead Partner for Birmingham City University, Warwick University and Newman University, we have been meeting trainees and getting them started on what we hope will be a long engagement with their teaching career.

Talking to our trainees over the last few days, many of them feel like familiar faces, as we have worked so closely with them over their application year. Some are past students (I was particularly excited to meet the trainee teacher on a primary programme who I last taught in year 7 English, and the secondary English trainee teacher, now 28, who was last in my class as an A Level English Literature student!). Some we have welcomed through the STEM Internships programme. Others have visited the school through the School Experience Day programme, or are familiar voices from countless phone calls, and meetings to support through the process.

For us, your teaching career is already well on the way by the time you come for your first training day. You are already part of the BCTSA family, and it is with a great sense of joy that we individually welcome every trainee to start their course.

Good luck to all our new trainees in the year ahead: we are with you every step of the way.
